Summary, etc. |
"Principles of Cell Biology was created to satisfy the lower level, one-semester cell biology course (200-300) having an emphasis on eukaryotic cells, especially humans, with the understanding that many of these students may be enrolled in and/or pursuing a career in the health sciences. The cell is the most basic unit of all living organisms, and the smallest unit of life that can independently replicate. By definition, cell biology is the study of the structure and function of these cells. Cell biology is a challenging subject to learn, and Dr. Plopper's text delivers students the tools to break down the complexity into comprehensible principles. The "Fourteen Principles of Cell Biology" illustrate both how cells function as well as how we study them. It is a unique and competitively distinguishable feature for this level and has received praise from both students and instructors. For the third edition, we are going to "double down" on this advantage by emphasizing the principles more in chapters 5-14 and make them more applied through relevant case studies"-- |
